The Role
As a Night Shift Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting inspections throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring all components and processes comply with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and aerospace quality requirements.
You will work closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to support manufacturing activities, investigate quality concerns, and ensure products are released in accordance with company and customer standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct First-Off, In-Process, Subcontract, and Final Inspection activities.
- Inspect components using a range of inspection methods, including:
- Visual inspection
- Hand-held measuring equipment
- First principle inspection techniques
- CMM inspection and interpretation of results
- Verify engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection programmes align with batch card requirements.
- Ensure all inspection activities are completed in accordance with procedures and operational requirements.
- Confirm products are free from Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and comply with FOD programme requirements.
- Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated and fit for purpose.
- Review manufacturing documentation, batch cards, concessions, deviation permits, and non-conformance records.
- Raise and complete deviation reports and non-conformance reports where required.
- Support investigations into quality issues and assist with corrective actions.
- Complete inspection records and quality documentation accurately.
- Act as an authorised stamp holder in accordance with aerospace quality standards.
- Support continuous improvement and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure effective communication and handover between shifts.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment in line with 5S principles.
About You
Essential Experience & Skills
- Previous experience as a Quality Inspector within a precision engineering, aerospace, or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
- Experience using a variety of manual inspection equipment.
- Knowledge of First-Off, In-Process, and Final Inspection activities.
- Strong understanding of quality systems and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
Desirable
- Aerospace manufacturing experience.
- Experience using CMM equipment and interpreting inspection reports.
- Knowledge of FOD requirements and aerospace quality standards.
- Experience raising NCRs, concessions, and deviation permits.
- Understanding of AS9100 quality systems.
- Authorised Stamp Holder experience.
