Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Mental Health Support Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health needs within a care home environment. This role involves supervising and guiding junior staff, developing care plans, and ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained. Duties
- Provide specialised mental health support to residents, ensuring their emotional and physical wellbeing is prioritised.
- Lead and supervise a team of support workers, offering guidance and mentorship to promote best practices.
- Develop, implement, and review personalised care plans in collaboration with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Assist residents with daily activities, including personal care, medication management, and social engagement.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, adhering to organisational policies and legal requirements.
- Facilitate effective communication between residents, families, healthcare professionals, and team members.
- Organise and participate in training sessions to enhance team skills and knowledge in mental health support.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the care environment.
- Support residents in maintaining independence whilst providing necessary supervision and assistance.
Experience
- Proven experience working within a care home or senior care setting specialising in mental health support.
- Supervising or leadership experience within a healthcare or social care environment is highly desirable.
- Experience in developing and managing care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Valid driving licence is essential.
- Competence in using IT systems for record keeping and reporting purposes is essential.
