Experienced Social Worker, Positive Futures Leaving Care Service
Ref: 161267-2
Salary: £50,269 p.a. plus benefits
37 hours per week
At Swindon, children are at the heart of everything we do.
Over the past two years, we have strengthened and stabilised our Children’s Services so that children receive the right help at the right time, and our practitioners benefit from consistent leadership, a supportive culture, and meaningful professional development. The Positice Futures Leaving Care Service is a stable and dedicated team whose social workers and managers follow our children’s journeys closely and keep their voices at the heart of all decision-making.
Your next role
Positive Futures Leaving Care Service Team works with children aged 16 and over who are approaching the end of their journey as a child we care for. Our team support children’s journey through challenging late teenage years to adulthood and beyond, supporting independence and reducing barriers to children entering adulthood through pathway planning for positive short- and long-term outcomes.
We are proud champions for our children, and we go the extra mile. We’re seeking an Experienced Social Worker who is dedicated to ensuring children receive the best support, opportunities, and stability we can offer.
You will have experience working with Cared for Children or Care Experienced Young People, with sound safeguarding knowledge and confident practice skills. You will enjoy direct work, value building trusting relationships, and bring a toolkit you’re keen to further develop with our support.
This is a dynamic role that requires creativity, empathy, and excellent communication. You will support children to thrive in education, maintain positive relationships, and develop the confidence and skills they need for adulthood. You will also work closely with carers, families, and professionals who share your commitment to delivering the highest standard of Corporate Parenting.
Most of our children live locally, but some are living outside of Swindon. We are working to bring children closer where this is in their interests. We are committed to ensuring children who live outside of Swindon receive the same high-quality service; the role will involve planned and occasional unplanned travel, including some evenings.
About You
You will be aspirational, motivated and committed to improving outcomes for children. You will bring strong practice experience and a genuine belief in each child's potential.
You will require a Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. This is an experienced role so you should have a breadth of post qualifying experience. Our service is based in Swindon town centre; we embrace a hybrid working model with an expectation of social workers spending a minimum of three days in the office. We have children who live outside of Swindon, and therefore this role will involve travel including during evenings, mostly this will be planned, however there will also be unplanned visits out of area, including in the evening. We are just as responsive to our children out of area as we are to our children living locally.
Our teams are ambitious and proactive, and we are looking for a social worker who will share that ambition and be a part of our journey.
- A full, UK Driving License is essential for this role.
Candidates must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act – for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
