Autism and Behaviour Support Assistant – Permanent

We are working in partnership with a specialist secondary education provider to recruit a Autism and Behaviour Support Assistant (Progress Partner) for a full-time, permanent role based in Crawley.

The Role
As a Autism and Behaviour Support Assistant , you will work closely with teaching and pastoral teams to support pupils 1:1 and in small groups, helping them to overcome barriers to learning, regulate emotions and engage positively with school life.
The school delivers a holistic, three‑tier curriculum that balances academic progress with personal, social and health development, supporting pupils to build confidence, independence and life skills for the future.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide behavioural, emotional and learning support to secondary‑aged pupils with SEN
- Deliver targeted support 1:1 and in small group settings
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, resilience and positive behaviour
- Assist with the planning and delivery of learning activities under teacher guidance
- Contribute to individual behaviour support and intervention plans
- Promote independence, self‑esteem and engagement with learning
- Monitor pupil progress, behaviour and wellbeing, feeding back to teaching staff
- Build positive, professional relationships with pupils, staff, parents/carers and external professionals
- Contribute to a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
- Uphold safeguarding, equality and inclusive practice at all times
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has at least 1 year experience working within a SEN school setting.
- Is calm, patient and resilient, with an understanding of adolescent behaviour
- Is passionate about inclusive education and SEND support
- Can build respectful, trusting relationships with young people
- Is adaptable and confident supporting pupils with complex needs
- Works effectively as part of a team
- Has experience working with secondary‑aged children or young people (desirable, not essential)
- Is willing to undertake ongoing training, including positive handling if required
Hours
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
- Tuesday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
- 38.5 hours per week
- Full-time, term-time only (38 weeks per year)
- This schedule provides 14 weeks of school holidays each year
