Tax Manager – Relocation Opportunity – Carlisle
Location: Carlisle, Cumbria (Lake District area)
Salary: Market rate + 17% performance-related bonus

The Opportunity
We’re working with a growing and reputable firm looking to bring in an experienced Tax Manager.
This is a key position where you’ll manage your own mixed portfolio of corporate and personal clients, while also getting involved in the wider running and development of the business.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing client tax affairs end-to-end, making sure everything is compliant while also spotting opportunities to add value and improve efficiency.
You’ll be dealing directly with clients, HMRC, and senior stakeholders, so a confident and practical approach is important.
Key Responsibilities

Managing a portfolio of corporate and personal tax clients

Preparing and reviewing a high volume of tax returns (circa 750 per year)

Covering all areas of tax, including Income Tax, Corporation Tax, VAT, CGT and IHT

Completing tax computations, reviews, and capital allowance claims

Providing practical tax advice and planning support

Identifying opportunities to improve tax efficiency

Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients

Making sure deadlines are met accurately and on time

Supporting client meetings and pre-year-end planning

Coaching and supporting junior team members

Contributing to business planning at a senior level

Keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation
About You
-
5–10+ years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice

Strong grounding in personal tax, with some exposure to corporate/advisory work
-
ATT / CTA / ACA / ACCA qualified, or qualified by experience

Comfortable managing your own client portfolio

Confident communicator who can deal with clients directly

Well organised, with good attention to detail

Proactive and commercially aware
