Job Title: Procurement Planner

2fawcett are recruiting for a Procurement Planner to join a leading rail engineering business in Derby. As the Procurement Planner, you will develop and manage procurement schedules, monitor material availability, identify supply chain risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Analyse project status and identify material gaps across all projects using MRP data, escalating risks and issues as required.
- Monitor material availability and demand to ensure projects remain on track and aligned with delivery plans.
- Raise and manage purchase orders for Bogie-related projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely placement.
- Manage Open Order Book, ensuring deviations are controlled, recorded, and resolved in line with production needs.
- Expedite suppliers to meet project and production requirements, including active engagement with key suppliers.
- Act as Visual Management Coordinator, maintaining clear, accurate, and up-to-date planning boards, trackers, and KPIs.
- Serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for Bogie production area, coordinating information flow between procurement and operations.
- Communicate progress, risks, and constraints clearly to stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within planning, procurement, and project delivery activities.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to support business and project objectives.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Strong understanding of MRP and material planning in a project or manufacturing environment.
- Outstanding Excel skills.
- Experience placing and managing purchase orders, ideally within engineering or overhaul projects.
- Proven ability to analyse data, identify gaps, and proactively manage risks.
- Strong supplier management and expediting experience.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Confident working as a cross-functional coordinator and single point of contact.
- Full UK driving license.
