Job Description:
Southern Plant & Tool Hire is looking for two Trade Counter Operatives to join our team. This position is responsible for the front of house operations, hire/sale enquiries, customer relationship management and much more.
Requirements:
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Experience in the plant sector.
- Experience with hire software (Syrinx) preferred.
- Good team skills and/or experience.
- Great customer service skills.
Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Sales
· Provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance to customers, helping them choose the right tools, equipment, and consumables.
· Process customer transactions efficiently, including sales, tool/equipment hire, and returns.
· Answer customer enquiries in person, over the phone, and via email.
· Promote relevant products and upsell where appropriate.
Tool & Equipment Hire Assistance
· Assist in processing hire agreements, ensuring correct documentation and invoicing.
· Check and prepare equipment for hire, ensuring it is clean, functional, and safe to use.
· Inspect returned equipment for damage, recording any necessary charges.
Stock Control & Merchandising
· Maintain accurate stock levels, ensuring the shop floor is well-stocked and organised.
· Assist with stock checks, reordering, and supplier communication as needed.
· Display and merchandise products effectively to maximise sales.
Health & Safety Compliance
· Follow all health and safety procedures when handling tools, equipment, and hazardous materials.
· Assist in regular safety checks on hire equipment before and after use.
· Keep the trade counter and hire shop clean, safe, and compliant with company policies.
General Depot Support
· Assist in yard duties, including stock movement and deliveries.
· Support other depot functions as necessary to ensure smooth operations.
