Self Employed Customer Verification Officer - Scotland
Day rate £135, Full-time/Part-time. Commission structure in place.

About the Role

We are expanding our field network of self-employed Customer Verification Officers to support reconnection activity across utilities and financial services sectors.
This is a field-based role where you will visit residential & commercial properties to:
- Reconnect customers with the client where contact has previously been unsuccessful
- Support customers in setting up a direct debit
- Carry out asset collections and inspections
- Verify occupancy and customer information
- Support appropriate next steps through accurate reporting
- Take meter readings where required
Agents will also work on commercial water workstreams, location dependent, to attend business premises to:
- Secure outstanding balances
- Confirm trading status and occupancy of commercial properties
- Verify the legally responsible party for the water account
- Establish on-site contact where billing or liability is unclear
- Record site findings and relevant observations accurately
- Capture photographic and factual evidence in line with process requirements
- Take meter readings and support water disconnection or reconnection activities
This work requires professionalism, confidence, and accuracy, particularly when engaging with business owners, site managers, or staff.
You will be representing our clients face-to-face, so professionalism, empathy and strong communication skills are essential.
This is a lone-working role in the field, requiring confidence, good judgement, and the ability to self-manage your workload effectively.

Health & Physical Demands of the Role
This is an active, field-based position. The role involves:
- Extended periods of walking and standing
- Daily travel between locations
- Working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Carrying work equipment
You must be comfortable with a physically active role and able to meet the mobility requirements of daily field work.
Pay & Hours
- Part-time or Full-time
- £135 based on an 8-hour shift (can be pro-rata depending on availability)
- Daily bonus structure based on verified outcomes and activity, OTE potential
- Flexible scheduling between Monday-Friday: 8am-8pm, Saturday: 8am-4pm
- Work allocated locally where possible
Please note: This is a self-employed position and mileage is not covered.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Access to your own vehicle with business insurance
- Access to an Android device (version 12 or above) to be compatible with our field application, plus a second device for making calls. Two separate devices and sims are required for this role.
- Able to pass DBS and credit checks

Preferred (But Not Essential)
- Previous regulated and unregulated field experience
- Previous commercial water experience
- National Water Hygiene (NWH) ‘Blue Card’
