Position Overview
Our Machine Operatives play a vital role in ensuring the precision, quality, and efficiency of our manufacturing processes. We are currently looking for an Edgebander Operative with HOMAG experience to join our growing team at Grimethorpe.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone experienced in edgebanding machinery to work with industry-leading HOMAG equipment in a clean, safe, and fast-paced production environment.
What You Will Be Doing
As an Edgebander Operative, you’ll ensure all components are edged accurately and efficiently to meet production requirements. Your responsibilities will include:
- Setting up and operating HOMAG edgebanding machines to required specifications
- Carrying out routine checks to ensure machinery is safe and fully operational
- Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times
- Loading materials and adjusting machine settings for different panel types and finishes
- Monitoring machine performance during production runs
- Ensuring output meets required quality, finish, and production targets
- Identifying faults, troubleshooting issues, and making adjustments where necessary
- Reporting and escalating technical or mechanical issues when required
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment
- Following all Health & Safety policies and procedures
- Working closely with colleagues and supervisors to maintain workflow efficiency
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in delivering a high-quality finish, has strong technical ability, and enjoys working with precision machinery.
About You

Ideal candidates will:
- Have previous experience operating edgebanders, preferably HOMAG machinery
- Have a strong understanding of edgebanding processes, adhesives, and finishes
- Be confident in setting up and adjusting machinery independently
- Have excellent attention to detail and quality control
- Be able to diagnose and resolve minor machine faults
- Follow clear instructions and established processes
- Work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Be proactive and safety-conscious at all times
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors
