Part time cook required for busy nursery working 5 hours per day Monday to Friday which would coincide with a mum who needs to pick up school children. You do not need formal experience but must be willing to undertake health and safety and food hygiene courses and be able to cook for up to 40-50 children per day.
Cook/Housekeeper - Job Description
- Plan, prepare and cook healthy balanced meals for children, considering any special dietary needs according to the rotating meal menu.
- To maintain high standards of personal hygiene and personal appearance in accordance with the company’s hygiene policy.
- Ensure all Food and Hygiene and Compliance is adhered to
- Ensure that allergy management systems are in place
- Effective management of the kitchen (Planning ahead to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen)
- Ensure the full kitchen uniform/PPE is worn and personal hygiene requirements are maintained to a high standard
- To ensure the kitchen and equipment is kept clean, hygienic and in good working order, including all fridges and freezers, walls, ovens, floors and serving trolleys following the cleaning schedule
- To ensure that foods stored in the refrigerators and cupboards are covered and labelled
- Organise mealtimes to ensure minimum disruption for childcare practitioners
- Ensure kitchen is maintained to the highest standard in all areas (cleanliness, hygiene etc.).
- Ordering weekly food within a budget
- To ensure that all foods are covered and safely stored prior to serving and during transportation to the nursery rooms
- Adhere to the Policies & Procedures of the Day Nursery and in compliance with the Environmental Health-Food Safety, Health and Safety guidelines to contribute to ensuring highest possible Ofsted grading
- To ensure that the store rooms are stocked and alert management when replacements are required
- Any other jobs in line with the post as directed by management
Person Specification -Qualifications and SkillsRequirements:
- A current Level 2/3 Certificate in Food Hygiene is desirable but will train.
- Car owner with a licence is desirable
- Experience of meal preparation and cooking in early years or care environment or for own children
- Knowledge and understanding of catering for a variety of dietary needs
- Good organisation and communication skills
- Good command of English Language
