Job Introduction:
We are seeking a proactive and skilled General Maintenance Operative (GMO) to join our Technical Services team at NBCUniversal's prestigious Central London headquarters. Reporting to the Technical Services Supervisor and working closely with the wider engineering team, you will play a key role in maintaining the building, supporting operational excellence, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance and customer service.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional with a multi-skilled background to work within a high-profile client environment where building presentation, asset reliability and service delivery are critical to business success.
What You'll Do:
As a General Maintenance Operative, you will support the delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and minor works across the site.
Key responsibilities include:

Carrying out building fabric repairs and general maintenance tasks across the estate

Completing planned preventative maintenance activities in line with SFG20, manufacturer recommendations and client requirements

Responding promptly to reactive maintenance requests and resolving faults within your level of competence

Supporting statutory compliance activities including emergency lighting checks, water hygiene tasks and fire door inspections
-
Assisting specialist engineers, contractors and project teams during planned works and site improvements
-
Performing minor multi-skilled works including basic carpentry, plumbing, decorating and fixture repairs
-
Working safely in accordance with permits, RAMS, lockout/tagout procedures and safe systems of work

Updating maintenance records and work orders accurately using the site's Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

Supporting energy efficiency, sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives
-
Participating in incident investigations, root cause analysis and engineering reviews
-
Assisting with work order prioritisation and communicating effectively with the Helpdesk, customers and site stakeholders
-
Supporting business continuity through effective maintenance delivery and emergency response when required
What You'll Bring:
-
NVQ Level 2 in Building Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, a relevant trade qualification, or equivalent practical experience
-
At least 2 years' experience within a commercial facilities management, maintenance or building services environment
-
Multi-skilled maintenance experience covering building fabric and minor trade activities
-
Strong practical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
-
Experience working to health and safety procedures including permits to work, isolation procedures and lockout/tagout (LOTO)
-
Good understanding of maintenance compliance requirements and industry best practice
-
Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office applications
-
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively
-
Strong communication and customer service skills
-
The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment
