Waiting staff required on a steam train
An amazing & unique opportunity to join the team serving diners on South Devon Railway boarding at Buckfastleigh train station. This is a fast paced, busy environment working in narrow spaces and on your feet at all times.
You will be working on the steam train which runs between Buckfastleigh and Totnes, serving meals on various dates to be confirmed from March to November (various Friday evenings and Saturdays & Sundays).
Duties include, but not limited to:
- 48 – 68 covers per sitting (depending on bookings)
- Greeting customers and seating them• Laying up tables with linen & cutlery
- Serving meals & drinks from a set menu• Clearing tables at pace
- At times lifting boxes of crockery etc from the train to the van
- Some washing up on the train when needed
This is a moving train when serving & can be a bit wobbly.
Silver service would be an advantage as weddings/corporate events may be catered for also.

It is a zero-hour contract but you will be advised in advance of the bookings. First event is Sunday 23 March.
Dress – black trousers (not leggings) and top and comfortable black shoes. Apron provided.
You will need to get yourself to and from Buckfastleigh train station. Start time to be confirmed depending on the function – possibly from 10.30am or 12 noon – until finish (5.30pm)
Wage: from £12.50 per hour depending on your experience
