Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Primary School Sports Coach / Play Worker to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will be responsible for organising and delivering engaging sports activities, play sessions (arts & crafts) for primary school children, fostering teamwork, confidence, and physical development. This role offers an excellent opportunity to inspire young learners through sport and play, contributing positively to their overall wellbeing and development.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver a variety of sports coaching sessions tailored to primary school pupils, promoting active participation and enjoyment.
- Organise engaging play activities during break times and after-school programmes, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
- Support the development of children’s physical skills, encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competition.
- Monitor children’s behaviour during activities, providing positive reinforcement and maintaining discipline where necessary.
- Ensure all equipment used is safe, well-maintained, and suitable for the age group.
- Promote a positive attitude towards physical activity and healthy lifestyles among pupils.
Requirements
- Proven experience in sports coaching, childcare or working with children in a school or community setting.
- Strong knowledge of sports techniques, rules, and safety procedures relevant to primary school age groups.
- Teaching skills or experience in engaging young learners through sport and play activities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate children of diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to organise activities efficiently whilst ensuring safety at all times.
- A recognised qualification in sports coaching or equivalent is desirable.
- A valid DBS check or willingness to undergo one prior to employment is essential.
- A proactive approach with enthusiasm for promoting physical activity and child development.
Pay: £15.00 per hour
