Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Vehicle Breakdown and Recovery Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing prompt assistance to vehicles in distress, ensuring safe recovery and transportation to designated locations. This role requires a professional approach, excellent driving skills, and the ability to handle mechanical issues efficiently. Duties
- Respond promptly to breakdown calls and assess vehicle issues on-site or en route
- Operate specialised recovery vehicles, including flatbed lorries, with professionalism and safety compliance
- Safely load and secure vehicles for transportation using appropriate equipment
- Conduct basic mechanical inspections and communicate findings effectively
- Navigate efficiently using GPS and local knowledge to reach destinations promptly
- Maintain accurate records of recoveries, incidents, and vehicle conditions
- Ensure all recovery operations adhere to health and safety regulations
- Communicate clearly with customers, dispatch teams, and colleagues throughout the process
- Perform routine checks on recovery vehicles to ensure optimal operation
Experience
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or vehicle recovery driver, ideally with commercial driving qualifications such as <PERSON> driver licence
- Previous experience with flatbed or specialised recovery vehicles preferred
- Familiarity with mechanical systems and basic troubleshooting skills
- Warehouse experience or logistics background is advantageous
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members
- Demonstrated ability to operate heavy vehicles safely under various conditions
- Knowledge of local routes and traffic regulations within the area of operation
