Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and professional Delivery Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting goods efficiently and safely to various locations, ensuring timely deliveries. This role requires excellent driving skills, a good knowledge of local routes, and a strong commitment to customer service. The ideal applicant will have prior experience in commercial driving and be comfortable handling flatbed vehicles.
Duties
- Safely operate delivery vehicles, including flatbed lorries, to transport goods to designated destinations
- Plan and follow efficient delivery routes to meet schedule requirements
- Load and unload items with care, ensuring the integrity of the cargo during transit
- Obtain signatures or proof of delivery from customers upon completion of each delivery
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts, reporting any maintenance issues promptly
- Maintain accurate delivery records and documentation
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations at all times
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules or issues
Skills
- Proven experience as a delivery driver, preferably with commercial driving background
- Knowledge of flatbed vehicle operation and handling
- Strong driving skills with a clean driving record
- Ability to navigate using GPS devices and local maps efficiently
- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple deliveries within tight timeframes
- Good communication skills for liaising with clients and team members
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physical fitness to load/unload goods and handle long periods of driving
