The difference you will make as a Roofers Labourer
Reporting to the Supervisor, the new Roofers Labourer will work as part of Riverside’s Responsive Repairs team within the Home Response service, supporting the delivery of roofing repairs, ensuring the delivery of high-quality repairs and maintenance works across Riverside’s housing stock within the Cumbria Region.
You will assist roofers in carrying out a range of roofing works including repairs, installations and maintenance, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently. Your role will contribute to maintaining property standards while supporting operational teams to deliver work within agreed timescales.
You will work as part of a team, providing support to qualified roofers and colleagues, while ensuring all activities are carried out in line with health and safety requirements and Riverside’s standards and values.
About you
We are looking for someone with:
- Experience working in a construction, labouring or property maintenance environment
- Ability to support roofing works including handling materials, preparing work areas and assisting operatives
- Understanding of basic health and safety requirements, particularly when working at height
- Willingness to learn and develop skills within the roofing trade
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
- Good communication skills and a positive, professional approach

Role Profile
You will support roofing repairs and maintenance works by assisting qualified roofers with tasks such as preparing materials, setting up work areas and ensuring tools and equipment are available and used correctly. You will ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with health and safety legislation, particularly when working at height.
You will maintain a clean and safe working environment, supporting the efficient completion of works within agreed timescales. You will work collaboratively with team members and respond flexibly to operational priorities while maintaining a high standard of work and customer service.
You will take responsibility for following instructions, supporting service delivery and contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and performance.
Role Responsibilities
- ·Assist roofers in carrying out repairs, maintenance and installation works
- Prepare and maintain work areas, ensuring they are safe and organised
- Load, unload and handle materials, tools and equipment safely
- Support working at height activities, ensuring compliance with safety procedures
- Ensure all tools and equipment are used correctly and maintained appropriately
- Maintain cleanliness of sites, leaving properties in a safe and tidy condition
- Follow instructions from supervisors and qualified operatives
- Support the timely completion of works in line with service targets
- Deliver a professional and courteous service when interacting with customers
- Adhere to health and safety policies, procedures and safe systems of work at all times
- Respond flexibly to changing workloads and operational priorities

Person specification
Essential
- Experience in a labouring or construction environment
- Full UK driving licence held for at least 1 year
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements
- Reliable, flexible and proactive approach to work
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable
- Experience supporting roofing works
- Awareness of working at height regulations
- Interest in developing a career within the roofing trade
