Canford Law is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Legal Administrative Assistant to join our growing team. You will play a pivotal role in supporting fee earners and ensuring the smooth running of administrative processes across the firm, working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Please note: This is an office based position, based out of our Hatfield office.
Key Responsibilities
- Open, scan, and file incoming post; print, envelope, and frank outgoing post.
- Open new electronic files on the firm’s system and manage client documents using spreadsheets and macros.
- Upload new client instructions and documents to files, inputting due dates into the database.
- Provide administrative support to fee earners working remotely, including printing and filing.
- Prepare and file legal documents with courts, ensuring accuracy and proper referencing.
- Answer incoming calls, direct them appropriately, and take messages when necessary.
- Draft and send basic letters to clients; forward and file emails from the generic inbox.
- Chase clients for missing information and documents to maintain efficient file progress.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional telephone manner.
- Competent with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to prioritise tasks, use initiative, and work effectively under pressure.
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive “can-do” attitude.
- Strong team player, but equally comfortable working independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a legal administrative or support role.
- Familiarity with legal filing systems, document management, and case databases.
