Groundworks Foreman
Torr Civils & Building Ltd
Isle of Raasay & Highlands · Permanent · Excellent pay & conditions (PAYE or CIS) · Relocation support available
We are a small main contractor based on the Isle of Raasay, delivering groundworks, civils, and building projects across Raasay, Skye & Lochalsh. At any one time we have upwards of ten live projects running concurrently with varying groundworks elements in each— multi-unit housing, warehousing, individual new builds, renovations, remedial works or utilities. The work is varied and the geography is wide.
The role
This is a hands on role. We need an experienced groundworks foreman or ganger who senior management can rely on to take ownership of the groundwork elements across our projects — organising the work, directing the team, and keeping things moving without needing day-to-day oversight.
You will need to be comfortable working across different project types and scales, reading drawings, planning sequences of work, and making sound decisions on the ground. The person we are looking for is a technically strong, hands on working foreman who is able to lead and motivate a team. We maintain a positive working culture, if you need to raise your voice to get the job done then this role isn't for you.
Technical background
Experience in both civils and housebuilding contexts:
- Drainage and utilities (water, power, data)
- Foundations and concrete finishing
- Slabbing and kerbing
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings
- Earthworks
- Planning and communicating a programme of works
- Plant operation (desirable but not essential)
What we offer
This is a permanent position. We will support relocation to Skye or Raasay, in addition to a company vehicle and profit share bonus scheme. We are able to offer a very attractive package for the right candidate.
We are open to discussing rates and working patterns with the right candidate. We can offer PAYE or CIS depending on your preference, and will consider flexible arrangements where these make the role work for you. What matters to us is finding the right person.
We are easy to work with and we invest in people who invest in us. If this interests you, please get in touch.
