Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Technician to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to ensure optimal operational performance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in mechanical systems, as well as experience with fabrication and equipment repair. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance, prioritising safety and efficiency at all times.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive inspections, brake tests and diagnostics on HGVs.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles including electrical, mechanicaland hydraulic components
- MOT preparation
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to carry out repairs and modifications
- Carry out welding, soldering, and assembly tasks as required to restore and maintain vehicle functionality
- Use of diagnostic tools to identify faults and implement solutions effectively
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts utilised
- Assist with the repair of specialised equipment such as excavators and plant when necessary
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies
- Undertake heavy lifting tasks safely during the handling of vehicle parts or equipment
- Proven experience within the heavy goods vehicle sector
- Electrical experience combined with mechanical knowledge
- Proficiency in reading diagnostic systems
- Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering, and use of hand tools and power tools
- Knowledge of assembly processes and equipment maintenance procedures
- Experience working with specialised machinery such as excavators or plant is desirable but not essensial
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in mechanical or electrical trades are advantageous but not compulsary

Pay: £45,000.00-£65,000.00 per year
