We are recruiting for a calm, reliable, and compassionate Waking Night Support Worker to provide overnight support for R, a 16-year-old young person with cerebral palsy and complex neurological needs, including frequent cluster seizures occurring throughout the day and night.
This is a waking night role requiring continuous supervision to ensure safety, prompt response to seizure activity, and accurate recording of all events, including duration, presentation, and interventions. The post holder will provide reassurance following seizures, support comfort and repositioning, and carry out personal care tasks as required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
R benefits from consistent, familiar carers and responds positively to close, relational support. He is highly tactile and enjoys appropriate physical engagement with known staff, including supported physiotherapy activities such as gentle hand stretching and movement exercises in line with his care plan.
A calm, low-arousal approach is essential, as increased stimulation or heightened emotional responses may increase seizure risk. Staff must remain composed, observant, and responsive throughout the night, ensuring a stable and reassuring environment at all times.
This role requires strong attention to detail, emotional resilience, and the ability to work independently while delivering safe, person-centred care in line with agreed support plans and clinical guidance.
9pm-9am– Friday, Saturday and Sunday Waking Night
There may be time that alternative shifts are requested.
PLEASE NOTE
“It is a criminal offence for people who are barred from working in regulated activity to apply for roles that require them to work unsupervised with that particular group (i.e. adults at risk, children or both)” and “Enhanced DBS with barred checklist is required”.
