About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, hardworking, and customer-focused individual to join our friendly and established pharmacy team.
Reporting directly to the Pharmacy Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the pharmacist and wider pharmacy team in delivering a high-quality service to our patients and customers. The role involves working within the dispensary and on the pharmacy counter, building positive relationships with patients, GP surgeries, and healthcare professionals to ensure outstanding customer care and service delivery.
The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment, demonstrate excellent communication skills, prioritise a varied workload, and multitask efficiently while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent customer service at all times, ensuring patients and customers are treated with courtesy, professionalism, and respect.
- Support and assist all members of the pharmacy team in the day-to-day running of the pharmacy.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and professional working environment.
- Provide advice and support for minor ailments within the scope of the role and refer appropriately when necessary.
- Sell medicines and process prescriptions in accordance with current pharmacy legislation, company policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Dispense prescriptions accurately and professionally in line with legal requirements and company guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Operate the EPOS system to serve customers and process transactions accurately.
- Complete end-of-day cashing up procedures using the EPOS system.
- Receive, check, and store deliveries from pharmaceutical suppliers, ensuring medicines are stored correctly and stock is rotated appropriately.
- Conduct regular date-checking procedures and ensure expired medicines are disposed of in accordance with pharmacy waste disposal policies.
- Monitor, order, return, and maintain stock levels, completing all necessary documentation accurately.
- Sort, file, and maintain prescriptions and pharmacy records in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with GP surgeries and healthcare professionals to support efficient prescription processing and patient care.
- Work collaboratively with the pharmacy team to deliver a caring, professional, and patient-focused service.
Skills and Qualifications
- Previous pharmacy experience is desirable.
- An NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent qualification) is preferred but not essential.
- Full training and development support will be provided for the right candidate.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Basic IT literacy and confidence using computer systems.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop within the pharmacy profession.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Education
- GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications).
