Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Motor Vehicle Technician/MOT Tester to join our professional team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting vehicle inspections, diagnosing faults, and carrying out repairs to ensure vehicles meet safety and emissions standards. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive MOT tests in accordance with legal requirements and safety standards
- Diagnose vehicle faults using mechanical knowledge and diagnostic tools
- Perform repairs, maintenance, and servicing on a variety of vehicle makes and models
- Use hand tools and power tools efficiently to carry out repairs and adjustments
- Assist in vehicle inspections, identifying issues related to brakes, suspension, exhaust systems, lighting, and other key components
- Ensure all work is completed accurately and within specified timeframes
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and services performed
- Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times, including heavy lifting procedures when handling vehicle parts or equipment
Experience
- Proven experience as a Motor Vehicle Technician or MOT Tester is preferred
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose complex faults effectively
- Competence in using hand tools and power tools for various repair tasks
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required during repairs or parts replacement
- Familiarity with current MOT testing procedures and legislation is advantageous
- Previous experience working in a busy workshop environment is desirable
