About the role:
As a Shift Manager, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating all operational activities within your shift. You will drive improvements in health & safety, efficiency, quality, and productivity, ensuring optimal performance across the production area.
Your leadership will play a key role in maximising profit margins, meeting operational targets, and delivering high standards that position us as a supplier of choice for our customers. You will also champion the company’s vision, values, and continuous improvement culture across your team.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities will consist of but are not limited to:
· To develop and lead your team to ensure Health and Safety, Food Safety, Quality, Cost and efficiency are maintained and improved on a continuous basis, operating in line with the Company’s values at all times.
· Lead, manage, and motivate production teams to achieve daily and weekly output targets while maintaining high standards of quality
· Oversee the end-to-end production process, ensuring operations run efficiently, safely, and in line with business objectives
· Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery deadlines
· Monitor performance metrics, analyse production data, and implement improvements to drive productivity and reduce waste
· Ensure compliance with all health & safety regulations, food safety standards, and company policies
· Manage staffing levels, including training, development, disciplinary and performance management of team members
· Work closely with other departments such as Technical, Engineering, and Logistics to ensure smooth operations
· Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. Lean principles) to enhance operational efficiency
· Oversee equipment maintenance and liaise with engineering teams to minimise downtime
· Handle production issues quickly and effectively, implementing corrective actions where required
· Ensure accurate production reporting and documentation is maintained at all times
· To handle all production issues related to new product launches, especially quality, yield, throughput, and labour – and all associated variances.
Skills Required
Essential Criteria
- Proven hands-on experience managing and leading a fast-paced production environment, including direct supervision of teams
- A hardworking, proactive professional with a strong work ethic and a “can-do” attitude
- Proven track record of efficiently running fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) production operations
- Good level of computer literacy, including experience with relevant systems and software
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Desirable Criteria
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience within chilled food manufacturing

Pay: Up to £53,000.00 per year
