The Bush Tavern is looking for an experienced and ambitious Senior Sous Chef to join our team and help launch an exciting new chapter in our food offering.
Situated in the heart of Shepherd's Bush, we're a thriving 90-seat pub with a fantastic team, a fully equipped kitchen, and big plans for the future. Since opening, we've partnered with a successful kitchen residency, but we're now bringing food in-house and building a kitchen team capable of creating one of West London's most exciting pub food destinations.
We're looking for a Senior Sous Chef who wants more than just a job. This is an opportunity to help build a kitchen, shape a menu, and play a key role in a growing business.
The concept is simple: exceptional pub food without the fuss.
At the centre of the menu will be a standout burger that guests actively seek out, alongside a carefully curated selection of bar snacks and sharing plates. Think beautifully executed gildas to pair with our cocktails, crisp croquettes, fresh seasonal salads, and the kind of snacks that make people order another round.

Working closely with the Head Chef, you'll be instrumental in establishing the kitchen's culture, systems, and standards from day one.
You'll support all aspects of kitchen management, lead services, mentor junior chefs, and ensure the food leaving the pass is consistently excellent. This role is ideal for a strong Sous Chef looking for greater responsibility or an experienced Senior Sous Chef seeking a project with genuine opportunity and influence.
Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Lead service and maintain exceptional food standards
- Assist with menu development and seasonal specials
- Train, mentor, and develop junior kitchen team members
- Help manage stock, ordering, and food cost controls
- Ensure compliance with food safety and health & safety regulations
- Maintain a positive, organised, and professional kitchen environment
- Step into the Head Chef's role when required
We're Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a quality-led operation
- Loves simple food executed to a consistently high standard
- Has strong leadership skills and enjoys developing others
- Understands kitchen systems, organisation, and cost control
- Thrives in busy services and leads by example
- Is ambitious, proactive, and excited by the opportunity to build something new
- Wants to be part of a business with long-term plans and room to grow
