APT Transport Ltd is seeking professional and reliable HGV Class 1 (C+E) Truck Drivers to join our growing logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across UK domestic routes and international routes between the UK and Europe (France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, etc.). This role is ideal for experienced drivers who are passionate about delivering quality service, maintaining high safety standards, and representing the company professionally. Work includes container haulage, flatbed, curtain-sider, and temperature-controlled trailers.
Responsibilities
- Operate HGV Class 1 (Artic) lorries safely in accordance with UK and EU road safety regulations.
- Transport goods across UK mainland and UK–Europe international routes, ensuring timely deliveries.
- Safely load, secure, and unload cargo, including containers, flatbeds, curtain-siders, and fridge units.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, completing defect reports and ensuring roadworthiness.
- Maintain accurate tachograph records, complying with EU Drivers’ Hours and Working Time Directive.
- Complete all delivery documents, including POD, CMR, customs/GMR paperwork where required.
- Use route planning to meet tight schedules and optimise fuel usage and time efficiency.
- Liaise with dispatchers, planners, customs offices, and clients professionally regarding delivery timing.
- Ensure full compliance with Border Force regulations, load security standards, and company policies.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness inside and out, reporting any repair or servicing requirements promptly.

Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence with Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
- Previous experience in container work, flatbed, curtain-sider or fridge trailer operations is preferred.
- Strong understanding of UK and European road safety and legal compliance requirements.
- Experience in securing loads correctly using straps, chains, tensioners, or locking mechanisms.
- Ability to plan routes efficiently using sat-nav routing, ferry booking, and border clearance procedures.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with planners, port authorities, and customs offices.
- Must be reliable, punctual, professional, and willing to work independently on long-distance journeys.
- Knowledge of GMR, CMR, ENS, and border crossing procedures (training can be provided).
- Previous international truck driving experience is an advantage but not essential.
