We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join us in September and support teaching and learning. This role involves providing support to students aged 11-16 predominantly in the Enhanced Resource Provision (ERP), although there may be occasions when you would be expected to work in the main school.
The successful candidate needs to be a positive, and friendly team player and be able to demonstrate a high level of understanding in all core subjects. Any experience of working with young people who have Communication and Interaction needs (with or without a diagnosis of autism) would be an advantage.
Huntington Enhanced Resource Provision is a specialist provision on site, that opened in September 2023. It offers a supportive and nurturing learning environment for children and young people to reach their potential. All children and young people in the ERP will have an EHCP with a primary need of Communication and Interaction (with and without a diagnosis of autism) and are likely to have had support at primary focussed on self-esteem, social anxiety and managing their environment. The ERP will provide a specialist education for those children and young people with social interaction and communication differences and related social anxiety.
Children and young people will be taught by teachers and HLTA’s and be supported by a skilled and experienced TA’s in small groups for the majority of the school day. They will access the mainstream school at Huntington for some lessons, with the number of lessons dependent on strengths and specific interests. The enhanced support will focus on building confidence in social interactions in a nurturing environment, to gain confidence in themselves, become more independent and progress their learning to ensure successful outcomes for adult life.

*Note: The TAL3 role is subject to a collective agreement which means that the role is currently paid for 52 weeks but is not expected to work during periods of school closure without prior agreement. The removal of this agreement is currently subject to a consultation process. If it is agreed to remove this then the salary for the Level 3 role will be £13,175 - £14,373 pro rata (pay award pending).
