Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer
Location: - Wirral
Salary: - £51,371 per annum, plus overtime rates (x 1.5) weekends (double time) and bank holidays (triple time)
Shift Pattern: - 4 on / 4 off (2 days, 2 nights) with scheduled extended break periods throughout the year.
We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer to join a large-scale manufacturing operation. This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving a wide range of production equipment, site services, and facility systems to ensure maximum operational uptime and efficiency.
Working as part of a shift-based engineering team, you will play a key role in supporting production through both reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair equipment faults as part of normal shift activities.
- Respond quickly to production breakdowns and minimise downtime.
- Carry out preventative maintenance activities and routine safety inspections.
- Perform fault-finding and diagnostic work on both planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
- Maintain a variety of production machinery and site services.
- Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are completed effectively.
- Support engineering and continuous improvement projects.
- Promote and follow all health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and operational performance.
- Work collaboratively with production teams to resolve recurring issues.
- Investigate equipment failures and identify root causes.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Produce shift reports and communicate effectively during handovers.
The Person
- HNC, Degree, or equivalent qualification in an Engineering discipline.
- Proven experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and/or electrical maintenance practices.
- Experience working with planned preventative maintenance systems.
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
