Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to older adults living in a residential care home.
The Care Assistant promotes residents' independence, dignity, privacy, choice, and wellbeing while ensuring their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs are met. Care is delivered in accordance with each resident's individual care plan, relevant legislation, and the home's policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Person-Centred Care - Assist residents with personal hygiene, including washing, bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral care.
Deliver compassionate, person-centred care tailored to each resident's individual needs, preferences, values, and life history.
Promote residents' independence by encouraging them to do as much as they can for themselves.
Respect each resident's dignity, privacy, beliefs, culture, and personal choices.
Support residents in making informed decisions about their daily routines and activities.
Build positive relationships with residents and their families to ensure care reflects individual preferences.
Assist residents with personal hygiene, including washing, bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral care.
Support residents with bathroom assistance and continence care while maintaining dignity and respect.
Assist residents with mobility, transfers, positioning, and the safe use of mobility equipment in accordance with moving and handling procedures.
Help residents maintain good nutrition and hydration by supporting them during mealtimes where required.
Health and Wellbeing - Observe, monitor, and report changes in residents' physical, emotional, or mental wellbeing.
Record care accurately and promptly in accordance with organisational policies.
Encourage participation in activities that promote physical, emotional, and social wellbeing.
Communicate effectively and respectfully with residents, relatives, colleagues, and healthcare professionals.
Listen to residents' wishes and concerns, ensuring they are involved in decisions about their care.
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with data protection legislation and professional standards.
Safeguarding and Safety - Safeguard residents from abuse, neglect, discrimination, and harm, reporting any concerns immediately.
Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents.
Adhere to health and safety policies, risk assessments, and emergency procedures.
Teamwork - Work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to deliver consistent, high-quality care.
Attend team meetings, supervision sessions, and mandatory training.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of care services through reflective practice and feedback.
Pay: £13.00 per hour
