We are seeking a Purchase Ledger Accounts Assistant to join our team based in Wetherby. This role offers an excellent opportunity to support the day-to-day operation of the purchase ledger, with responsibility for accurate invoice processing and ensuring the timely payment of suppliers, contributing to the smooth running of the company’s finance function. This role would be based full time in our Wetherby office.
What You’ll Do

Record daily financial transactions accurately and maintain financial records

Ensure all invoices, receipts and payments are properly documented and maintain accurate and well-organised purchase ledger records

Process supplier invoices and employee expense claims, ensuring appropriate approval is obtained

Ensuring correct coding of costs to the to the general ledger

Prepare payment runs and monitor outstanding payments to ensure suppliers are paid on time

Maintain cash book, reconcile bank statements and investigate discrepancies

Reconcile credit card statements, code and post into the general ledger

Responsibility for petty cash transactions and ensuring the petty cash account reconciles

Identify and resolve financial discrepancies promptly

Ensure adherence to company financial policies and procedures

Prepare supporting documents for internal and external audits

Support the wider Finance team to ensure efficient workflows
What We’re Looking For:
Skills and Experience

Understanding of bookkeeping and double entry accounting
-
Familiarity with ledgers, journals and trial balances
-
Knowledge of invoice processing, payment runs and collections
-
Understanding of credit control and supplier account management
-
Knowledge of bank reconciliation procedures
-
Basic knowledge of preparing internal reports and statements

Experience within a finance or accounts environment

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
