At Steer Automotive Group, every role plays a part in delivering exceptional service to our customers. We are looking for a reliable and professional Vehicle Compound Operative to join our large, fast-paced site, ensuring vehicles are moved safely, efficiently, and in line with production requirements.
This is a key operational role on a high-volume site where vehicles are constantly in movement or undergoing repair at any one time. You will play a vital part in keeping vehicle flow organised, supporting workshop productivity, and ensuring everything runs smoothly across the compound.
What Youll Be Doing

Moving vehicles safely and efficiently across a large operational site

Supporting the smooth flow of vehicles between workshop, bodyshop, paint, valeting, and dispatch areas

Following site movement systems and instructions to ensure production efficiency

Carrying out basic vehicle checks before and after movement

Ensuring vehicles are parked, staged, and positioned correctly within a large compound
-
Working closely with logistics, production, and workshop teams to prioritise vehicle movement
-
Maintaining awareness of high site activity and operating safely at all times
-
Reporting any damage, faults, or concerns immediately

Supporting general site organisation and efficiency where required

Ensuring all vehicle handling is carried out with care and professionalism
What Were Looking For

A full UK driving licence with a clean driving record
-
Age 21 or over due to insurance requirements
-
Confident driver, comfortable operating in a large, busy site environment
-
Experience in a compound, logistics, workshop, or high-volume driving role (desirable)
-
Strong awareness of health & safety and site traffic management
-
Ability to follow instructions and work within structured processes
-
Reliable, punctual, and detail-focused approach to work
-
Good communication and teamwork skills
-
Calm and safe decision-making in a fast-paced environment

Professional attitude and pride in representing the business
