About the Role
A well-regarded secondary school in Luton is seeking a Maths Second in Charge (2iC) to join their team from September.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Maths teacher looking to step into leadership, or an existing 2iC seeking a new challenge within a supportive and forward-thinking department.
You will play a key role in supporting the Head of Department, contributing to curriculum development, raising attainment, and ensuring high-quality teaching across the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Maths in leading and developing the department
- Deliver engaging and effective Maths lessons across KS3–KS5
- Assist with curriculum planning, assessment, and intervention strategies
- Monitor student progress and support with raising attainment
- Contribute to staff development and share best practice
- Uphold high standards of behaviour and classroom management
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Maths Teacher (QTS required)
- Experience teaching Maths across KS3–KS4 (KS5 desirable)
- Strong understanding of curriculum and assessment
- Previous responsibility within a department (e.g. Lead Practitioner, KS Coordinator, or 2iC) desirable
- Ambitious, driven, and keen to progress into leadership
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
