Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Care Home Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, balanced meals for residents, ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained at all times. Duties
- Prepare and cook daily meals in accordance with dietary requirements and nutritional guidelines
- Plan menus that cater to residents’ specific needs and preferences
- Ensure all food is prepared safely, adhering to food safety regulations and hygiene standards
- Manage kitchen stock levels, including ordering and stock rotation
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including washing up and sanitising surfaces and equipment
- Assist with serving meals to residents in a courteous and professional manner
- Monitor food temperatures during preparation and serving to ensure safety standards are met
- Collaborate with care staff to accommodate special dietary needs or restrictions
- Keep accurate records of food deliveries, storage, and waste management
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, ideally within a care home, restaurant or similar environment
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Experience in meal planning and preparation for diverse dietary requirements
- Excellent communication skills and a caring attitude towards residents
- Previous experience serving food in a hospitality or healthcare setting is desirable
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
