Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Maintenance Person to join our team at Perdiswell Rose Care Home, facility offering exceptional care in a modern, safe, and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to maintain and repair various systems within our facility. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, excellent customer service skills, and the capability to work independently as well as part of a team. The Maintenance Person will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of the care home, including fire panels, emergency lighting, and water temperatures.
- Carry out general repairs, painting, and minor plumbing/electrical tasks.
- Maintain outdoor areas including pathways, signage, and garden features.
- Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed to a high standard and in a timely manner.
- Assisting with decorating and refurbishing projects as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report any issues to the management team.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and support audits.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and residents.
- Liaise with external contractors when required.
- Build positive relationships with residents and staff, providing a friendly and supportive presence.
Requirements
- Proven experience in building maintenance or a similar role.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrics, and general repairs.
- Understanding of health and safety standards in care environments.
- DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to respond to emergency maintenance requests outside of regular working hours.
- A commitment to maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for residents.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
