WMS are seeking to appoint a Contracts Manager to join our Minor works/Response maintenance team based in Chudleigh covering South Devon and the surrounding Devon area. This role will involve regular travel across Devon, therefore a full valid UK driving licence and willingness to drive as part of the role are essential.
WMS is a property maintenance and construction company operating throughout the South West, with offices in Bideford, Chudleigh, Redruth, and Yeovil. We carry out contracts for both the public and private sectors across the South West of England.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Visiting properties and premises across the Somerset region to assess required works
- Day-to-day management of works, including planning and coordinating direct labour and subcontractors
- Managing and delivering projects ranging in value from £1,000 to £100,000
- Surveying works and preparing quotations for clients
- Signing off completed projects
- Producing accurate and timely client invoices
- Liaising with contracts staff to organise labour and materials
- Signing off operatives’ timesheets and subcontractor invoices
- Organising and hosting regular team talks
- Handling telephone calls to coordinate works and schedules
- Liaising with residents and clients to arrange works
- Using company IT equipment and systems
- Conducting site inspections and compiling written reports
- Ensuring operatives work safely and adhere to Health & Safety regulations, supported by our in-house H&S team

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
- Full valid UK driving licence with willingness to travel throughout Somerset as part of the role
- Proactive approach towards both company and client requirements
- Smart, professional appearance with excellent time management skills
- Strong commitment to Health & Safety, with a good understanding of H&S regulations
- SMSTS qualification desirable, though training can be provided for the right candidate
- NVQ or similar qualification in Construction Contract Management desirable, but not essential
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience in preparing valuations for clients is essential
- Trade background desirable but not essential
- Successful candidate will be required to complete a DBS check upon appointment
