SEN Teacher
We're working exclusively with a small, independent SEMH school in Ashton-under-Lyne, seeking an SEN Teacher to lead a small group of KS3/4 children with complex SEMH, ASC and other learning and behavioural needs.
This is a special opportunity to join a nurturing SEMH Provision in Ashton-under-Lyne. The school caters to 28 children aged 11-16; as an SEND Teacher, you will lead a small class of up to 5 KS3/4 children. The school takes a child-centred approach to education, with high staff/student ratios, and all strategies implement trauma-informed practice.
Job Description:
- Permanent, full-time Teaching position
- Nurturing SEMH School
- Work with students with a range of needs: ASC, SEMH, other complex learning and behavioural needs
- Small classes of max. 4-5 students (high staff/student ratios)
- Trauma-informed practice, child-centred approach
- Oversee class Teaching Assistant to ensure all students can thrive
- Start date as soon as possible (notice period dependent)
Person description:
- QTS/QTLS essential, with experience working in a Primary, or preferably SEND setting with children with similar SEND
- Significant teaching experience (Primary-trained teachers welcome!)
- Child-centred approach to teaching - understands and implements trauma-informed practice
- Calm and patient demeanour, with strong classroom management skills
- Excellent behaviour management, adaptability to deal with unpredictable and unregulated behaviour
As SEMH Teacher, you will handle complex behaviour associated with a variety of SEMH needs. Excellent behavioural management is essential.
