R G Bassett & Sons is a long-established, forward-thinking family transport Business, offering quality-assured road transport and palletised distribution services to our valued clients throughout the UK.
We have an opportunity available for a Class 2 driver to join our team, mainly to complete multi-drop Palletforce network deliveries in the ST Postcode area, although there may be some deliveries further afield. Working on a Monday to Friday basis (with occasional weekend work available), start and finish times are based on customer requirements.
This position will involve:
- The completion of daily vehicle checks, and the reporting of defects, as applicable.
- The checking of freight loaded onto the delivery vehicle against the information detailed on the delivery manifest, and the application of load security.
- Planning the delivery runs, using the most efficient routes.
- Collection and delivery of goods to the required location, and obtaining proof of delivery.
- Use of a hand-held signature capture device, for Palletforce deliveries.
- Liaison with the customer in a polite and professional manner.
- Working in accordance with Drivers Hours Regulations, the Company’s Operating Procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
Based on our hourly rate of £13.60, drivers can earn between £32,000 and £40,000+, depending on the number of hours worked. Drivers with an ADR qualification receive a weekly allowance of £20. The Company also funds one module of Driver CPC training per driver each year.
Class 2 drivers are also given the opportunity to undertake funded Class 1 training through our Training School, Bassett's Transport Training, after successful completion of an initial period of employment.
