Cosmetic Surgery of the Royal Liver Building is seeking an exceptional Consultant Ophthalmologist or Oculoplastic Surgeon to join our specialist team in Liverpool.
This is a rare opportunity to work within a prestigious CQC registered private surgical clinic based in the iconic Royal Liver Building, delivering blepharoplasty and cataract surgery under local anaesthetic within a refined, consultant led environment.

The opportunity
You will assess and treat private patients seeking blepharoplasty, cataract surgery, and related periocular or ophthalmic procedures, carrying out surgery under local anaesthetic in a well supported and highly professional setting.
This role is particularly suited to a surgeon who combines excellent clinical judgement with a polished patient manner and a desire to build a substantial private practice within an established and respected brand.
For the right candidate, this is an outstanding opportunity to generate very strong income within a premium clinic environment, with potential earnings up to £750,000 per annum depending on activity, case mix, and agreed fee structure.
Key responsibilities
The postholder must practise at all times in full accordance with the Care Quality Commission regulatory framework and the clinic’s clinical governance systems, actively supporting delivery across the CQC domains of Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well led. This includes maintaining high standards of patient selection, consent, documentation, infection prevention and control, medicines safety, safeguarding, incident reporting, duty of candour, risk management, audit participation, and continuous quality improvement. The postholder is expected to work in line with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014, GMC standards, relevant Royal College guidance, and all internal policies and standard operating procedures, while contributing to a culture of openness, accountability, learning, and regulatory readiness at all times.You will undertake consultations, assess patient suitability, obtain informed consent, and carry out surgery within your agreed scope of practice.
The role will include blepharoplasty and cataract surgery under local anaesthetic, together with any additional eyelid or ophthalmic procedures for which you are appropriately experienced and credentialed.
You will be expected to deliver excellent care throughout the full patient pathway, from consultation to follow up, while maintaining outstanding standards of documentation, communication, governance, and clinical professionalism.
Essential requirements
Full GMC registration with licence to practise
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Ophthalmology, or equivalent recognised specialist status
Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, or equivalent
Strong experience in cataract surgery and or oculoplastic surgery
Demonstrable experience carrying out blepharoplasty and cataract surgery independently
Excellent understanding of patient selection, consent, risk management, and private patient care
Current indemnity suitable for private practice
Strong communication skills and a highly professional manner
A commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, and high quality outcomes
