Job Purpose
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a resilient and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and behavioural needs in a specialist setting in Stechford.
You will play an important role in helping pupils access learning, develop communication skills, and build positive relationships within school.
Key Responsibilities – Teaching & Learning Support
Support pupils with Autism and associated behavioural needs
Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group support
Use visual timetables and structured classroom routines
Support emotional regulation and engagement in learning
Encourage independence and positive social interaction
Work collaboratively with teachers and SEND staff
Help maintain a safe and supportive environment
Person Requirements
Experience working with Autism or SEND
Understanding of challenging behaviour and communication needs
Calm, patient, and proactive approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Two satisfactory references
Qualifications
No formal qualifications required
Must have relevant SEND experience, including:
Care work
Support work
School-based experience
