Trauma-Informed Teaching Assistant – Secondary School – Wrexham
Excell Supply are recruiting a compassionate and resilient Trauma-Informed Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a secondary school in Wrexham.
This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who understand the impact trauma can have on a young person's education, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing. You will play a key role in building positive relationships, providing consistent support, and helping pupils feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn.
The Role
As a Trauma-Informed Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide tailored support to pupils who may have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), trauma, or significant barriers to learning.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that promote emotional wellbeing and resilience.
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
- Help students develop emotional regulation, confidence, and positive coping strategies.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and safeguarding staff to support individual learning and wellbeing plans.
- Encourage engagement in learning and promote positive educational outcomes.
- Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive school environment.
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with young people in education, youth work, care, support work, mentoring, or similar settings.
- An understanding of trauma-informed approaches and the impact of trauma on learning and behaviour.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
- The ability to remain resilient and supportive in challenging situations.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
