Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Water Based Swimming Assistant to support our swimming programme. This role involves assisting with swimming lessons, ensuring safety, and providing a positive environment for learners of all ages. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and sports coaching, with a focus on water safety and skill development. Responsibilities
- Assist qualified swimming instructors during lessons, ensuring smooth operation of sessions
- Support learners in developing water confidence and swimming techniques
- Maintain a safe environment by monitoring poolside activities and enforcing safety rules
- Help set up equipment and organise lesson materials prior to classes
- Provide encouragement and positive reinforcement to swimmers of all ages and abilities
- Support with poolside organisation, including supervising entry and exit points
- Contribute to maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the pool area
Requirements
- Previous experience in sports coaching or teaching is highly desirable
- Passion for water safety, swimming, and supporting learners’ development
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate others
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a dynamic environment
- Flexibility to work scheduled lessons, which may include evenings or weekends if required
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures related to aquatic environments
