The Role
Our new Health, Safety & Environmental Manager will play a key role in shaping and embedding a proactive safety culture at our Cookstown site. As a trusted partner to the Site Director and Senior Leadership Team, you’ll ensure Health, Safety & Environmental standards are not just maintained, but continuously improved across every level of the business.
Working within a high-volume FMCG manufacturing environment, you’ll provide data-led insight, regulatory expertise and practical guidance to support operational excellence. This is a fully on-site role in Cookstown, offering the opportunity to influence site-wide performance, drive compliance and champion best practice.
Your Key Responsibilities
The new manager will be responsible for coordinating and developing the site-wide HS&E strategy, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include:

Leading and developing the site Health, Safety & Environmental programme in line with regulatory and company standards

Maintaining and enhancing the site’s Health, Safety & Environmental Management Systems

Developing and delivering the annual Health & Safety Plan in partnership with HR and Operations

Providing clear, practical guidance to the Senior Management Team on all HS&E matters

Leading accident investigations, ensuring timely corrective actions and statutory reporting

Monitoring and reporting monthly H&S KPIs, identifying trends and improvement opportunities

Ensuring risk assessments, safe systems of work and emergency plans remain current and embedded

Managing relationships with external bodies including NIEA, NI Water, HSE NI and emergency services

Chairing Health & Safety Committee meetings and driving engagement across the site

Overseeing health and safety training for employees and contractors
The Ideal Candidate
You will be an experienced Health & Safety professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is confident influencing at all levels.

NEBOSH Diploma (or Level 6 equivalent) in Occupational Health & Safety

Experience in a Health & Safety leadership role, ideally within food manufacturing or FMCG

Strong working knowledge of UK and Northern Ireland H&S legislation

Experience leading safety on significant site programmes or projects

Confident communicator with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships

Strong analytical skills with experience using data to drive improvements

Organised, detail-focused and able to manage competing priorities effectively
