Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate South Indian Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in authentic South Indian cuisine, with proven skills in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase traditional flavours while leading a team in a dynamic hospitality environment. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring high-quality food production, maintaining food safety standards, and delivering exceptional service to our guests.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook authentic South Indian dishes with attention to authenticity and quality
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth operations
- Manage food production processes, ensuring timely delivery of dishes during service hours
- Oversee food safety standards and maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen
- Lead by example in food preparation, cooking, and presentation to uphold the restaurant’s reputation
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless serving of meals
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed
- Train new team members on cooking techniques, safety procedures, and service standards
- Ensure compliance with health regulations and internal policies at all times
Skills
- Proven supervising experience within a busy kitchen or restaurant environment
- Extensive knowledge of South Indian cuisine, including traditional recipes and ingredients
- Strong skills in food preparation, cooking, and presentation
- Experience in food production and managing large-scale meal services
- Leadership qualities with the ability to manage a team effectively
- Excellent understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Previous hospitality or restaurant experience is highly desirable
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of kitchen operations
- Customer-focused approach with excellent communication skills in serving guests
Requirements:
Expertise in [south Indian /North Indian] cuisine and spice blending.
Strong knowledge of health and safety rules .
Ability to work well under pressure in a close-knit team.
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends.
