We are looking for someone to joint our friendly office team at The Galloway Activity Centre for the summer! Founded in 1988, we are a medium sized activity centre on Loch Ken in South West Scotland serving tens of thousands of customers a year. We provide outdoor activities, tuition and accommodation for a mix of families, groups and individuals.
What we look for
Our reception team are at the heart of our customers' journey through the centre, from the moment they pick up the phone to the day they arrive. We're looking for someone to give our lovely customers the warmest welcome and the best experience of the centre that we can! No experience is required - we are more interested in finding people with a positive and bubbly demeanor who enjoy working with people and can give great customer service. If you are lacking in experience or admin skills, we will soon train you up.
We are a small, close knit team and all have an ethos of flexibility and jumping in to help out where needed. Although this role is largely admin based, duties include assisting in the kitchen, cleaning and hiring equipment to customers. It can be a stressful role and there's lots of responsibility, but cake is provided on difficult days and we try to maintain a relaxed, family atmosphere.
What we offer
You will be working as part of a team of around 30 people from all walks of life and although you will be based in the office, it is far from your typical office role. We operate on the idyllic shores of Loch Ken with an early start early finish schedule most days – we try to be out of the door before 5pm so we can get out and play! All of our team have access to the equipment/boats in their free time and we try and get out in the evenings at least once a week. This could be a mountain biking trip around the local trails or an evening out on the water. In the height of summer, there are loads of opportunities to try your hand at all the outdoor activities we run.
Training is provided in basic administration, operating our online booking systems, delivering safety briefings to customers and running occasional activity sessions.
Past employees in this role have enjoyed the variety of work and the working environment, the variety of customers, working with like minded people, the location, access to training opportunities and the amount of dogs in the office!
Basic camp style accommodation can be provided on site and there is an outdoor staff kitchen for cooking.
Your main duties will include:
- Greeting customers in a friendly and welcoming manner
- Processing bookings made online and by phone
- Responding to phone and email enquiries and driving sales
- Maintaining accurate diaries and customer bookings
- Maintaining payment records
- Assisting in the kitchen or on shore duties when required
- Keeping the reception area clean, tidy and welcoming
- Liaising with shore staff for hire equipment, activity and tuition arrivals
The Role
- The role is full time seasonal and candidates need to be flexible with hours which are set on a weekly rota and include weekends and occasional evenings. Most days will run from 0800-1630.
- The role involves working weekends and buses don't run on Sundays, so having your own means of getting here is essential.
- July and August are our busiest months, and no holidays are permitted in this time.
