Step into a pivotal Supply Chain Supervisor role where you'll lead a diverse team and drive operational success in a specialist manufacturing environment that values hands-on leadership.
Supply Chain Supervisor | 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract | £55,000 - £60,000
We're supporting a specialist manufacturing business with an urgent requirement for a hands-on Supply Chain Supervisor to join them on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a key role within a new operational structure, leading a small but varied team across shipping, warehouse, stock and purchasing support, while helping to keep materials, production and customer deliveries moving smoothly.
This role would suit someone who enjoys being close to the operation, working face-to-face with people, and bringing structure, accountability and calm problem-solving to a busy manufacturing environment.
What you'll be doing
You'll provide day-to-day leadership across supply chain operations, supporting the flow of materials, inventory, warehousing, shipping and logistics activity across the business.
You'll work closely with production, operations, purchasing and wider site teams to ensure materials are available, stock is accurate, customer deliveries are achieved and any supply chain issues are escalated and resolved quickly.
You'll also be responsible for supporting, coaching and developing a small team, including colleagues across shipping, warehouse/stock and purchasing. This is a hands-on leadership role, so the ability to manage different personalities, working styles and priorities will be just as important as your technical supply chain knowledge.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating day-to-day supply chain activity to support manufacturing and customer delivery
- Managing material flow, inventory availability, stock accuracy and operational risks
- Supporting inbound and outbound logistics, shipping schedules and dispatch coordination
- Ensuring shipping and export documentation is completed accurately and on time
- Working with suppliers around pricing, lead times, service levels and supply issues
- Monitoring KPIs across supplier delivery, inventory accuracy, OTIF, shortages and dispatch performance
- Supporting ERP/MRP processes, data accuracy and operational controls
- Identifying opportunities to improve stock control, warehouse efficiency, logistics and wider supply chain performance
- Leading, coaching and supporting a small team across shipping, warehouse/stock and purchasing activity
- Promoting strong communication and collaboration across production, operations, purchasing and warehouse teams
What we need
The most important thing for this role is strong, visible people management. The business needs someone who can lead face-to-face, manage performance, build accountability and adapt their approach across both office-based supply chain colleagues and warehouse/operative teams.
You don't need to have managed a huge team, but you do need to have managed people directly and confidently in an operational, manufacturing or logistics-led environment.
We're looking for someone with:
- Experience in supply chain, logistics, procurement, warehouse, materials or manufacturing operations
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
- Strong face-to-face people management skills
- Confidence managing different personalities, priorities and working styles
- Experience working in a manufacturing or production-led environment
- Good understanding of inventory, warehousing, logistics, purchasing and material flow
- ERP/MRP system experience
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
- A proactive, hands-on and collaborative approach
A background in chemical, process or regulated manufacturing would be useful, but this is not essential. Broader manufacturing experience will absolutely be considered if you bring the right leadership style and operational understanding.
The package
- 12-month fixed-term contract
- £55,000 - £60,000 salary
- 35-hour working week

- Pension scheme
This is being offered as a 12-month contract, and while there may be potential beyond that, this is not being guaranteed. What is guaranteed is the opportunity to step into an important role where your leadership, structure and supply chain experience can make a real and visible impact.
