About the Role
Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the OSRU Therapy Team on a temporary placement basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly regarded multidisciplinary team, delivering specialist stroke and neurorehabilitation care within an inpatient rehabilitation setting.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting patients through rehabilitation and discharge planning, helping individuals maximise independence and achieve positive outcomes through evidence-based occupational therapy interventions.
Key Responsibilities
As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will:
- Deliver high-quality, safe, and effective rehabilitation and discharge planning for patients within the stroke pathway.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, as well as colleagues across acute and community services, to ensure coordinated patient-centred care.
- Independently assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient-specific rehabilitation programmes using advanced clinical reasoning skills.
- Undertake comprehensive neurological assessments for patients with complex rehabilitation needs.
- Contribute to ongoing patient evaluation and goal setting, ensuring interventions are evidence-based and outcome-focused.
- Participate in the hands-on delivery of patient care and support the efficient use of resources across the wider healthcare system.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and provide guidance to support staff where required.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must be able to demonstrate:
- Current HCPC registration.
- MSc/BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy.
- Previous experience working as an Occupational Therapist within an inpatient rehabilitation setting.
- Strong clinical knowledge and experience in stroke and neurological rehabilitation.
- Experience completing neuro-specific assessments, including:
- Cognitive screening (OCS)
- Visual neglect and inattention assessments
- Apraxia assessments
- Upper limb assessments
Desirable Experience
- Previous stroke management experience.
- Experience working within interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams.
