Our welcoming, community-based charity provides high-quality, inclusive Easter and summer holiday care for children in Years 1–6 living in North Guildford and Ash, particularly those who may not otherwise have access to holiday play provision. We are currently recruiting for Playworkers to join our teams, in both locations, this summer - with the opportunity to continue working with us for future delivery.
Job title: Playworker (seasonal)
Job purpose: To assist the running of the playscheme and the preparation and delivery of all the activities for children aged 5 to 11 years.
Job duties:
1. To assist in the development and planning of the programme of the activities to ensure the activities are delivering the out comes of the project
2. Help the children to develop and improve through all aspects of the scheme, particularly their psychological well-being, self-esteem, self-confidence, problem solving and social skills
3. Encourage and promote healthy lifestyles through physical activity, arts and crafts, music, drama, role playing and play activities
4. To work together as a team to ensure the supervision of the children at all times in a safe but stimulating environment
5. To inform Co-ordinator/Deputy if the scheme needs to re-order any equipment or materials that the scheme may be running short of
6. If appropriate hold an up-to-date First Aid Certificate and be prepared to carry out practical first aid when needed
7. To ensure the grounds and the buildings are maintained to a clean, tidy and high standard and endeavouring to maintain a secure, orderly and cared for appearance of all parts of the scheme including the outside areas
8. To assist in the daily setting up and clearing away of the days activities in preparation for the following day.
9. To attend staff and induction meetings and training days as required
10. To assist in the compliance with all aspects of the CHIPS policies
11. To be flexible in ways and times of working to accommodate the varying needs of the children and the scheme
Delivery begins on the 27th July through to the 13th August, onsite approx. 8.30-5.00, with a set-up day beforehand (date TBC). We are open to applicants working set days or full weeks.
