Our client, a well-established engineering and manufacturing business based in Grantham, is seeking an experienced CNC Operator / Setter / Programmer to join their machine shop team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist to work within a modern manufacturing environment producing high-quality precision-engineered components.
Hours: Monday to Thursday 7:30am – 4:15pm | Friday 7:30am – 12:30pm
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set and operate CNC lathes, mills and machining centres.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and job instructions.
- Create and edit CNC programs at the machine.
- Select and install tooling, fixtures and workholding equipment.
- Set machine datums, tool offsets and zero points.
- Conduct first-off inspections and in-process quality checks.
- Use measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, gauges and calipers.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Produce components to tight tolerances and complete quality documentation.
- Carry out routine machine maintenance and basic fault finding.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, production and quality teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and productivity improvements.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- Previous experience as a CNC Operator, Setter, Programmer or Machinist.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience with CNC milling, turning or multi-axis machining.
- Knowledge of Fanuc, Mazatrol, Haas, Siemens or similar controls.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment.
- Understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds, offsets and tolerances.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- Apprenticeship, machining qualification or technical training.
- CAD/CAM experience.
- Experience within a precision engineering environment.
