An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially aware Product Technical Lead to join a specialist manufacturing business operating within materials technology.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise in fire-resistant and coating systems who enjoy taking products from concept through to delivery. You will play a key role in driving innovation, supporting manufacturing operations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance products to market. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of new coating products from research and formulation through to launch.
- Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to identify market needs, technical challenges, and emerging industry trends.
- Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support for existing products and manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with production and supply chain teams to ensure products are scalable, manufacturable, and delivered efficiently.
- Support commercial and sales teams with technical product knowledge and customer-facing expertise.
- Monitor product performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, testing requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
- Manage project costs, development budgets, and capital expenditure tracking.
- Evaluate material, manufacturing, and design decisions to optimise product value and cost efficiency.
- Identify and protect intellectual property generated through product development.
- Present development updates, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership.
About You
- Education to degree level or similar in Chemistry or Materials Science related subjects.
- Experience with fire-proof coating and understanding of silicone chemistry
- Experience with industrial coating systems
- Experience of product development and new product development
- Experience of leadership skills would be beneficial
- Ability to cross-collaborate between departments.
- Excellent communication skills
