An exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate Deputy Manager to support the leadership of a children’s residential home for young people with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
This role is ideal for a residential childcare professional ready to take the next step into leadership while helping create a safe, nurturing, and stable environment where children can thrive.
The Role
Working closely with the Registered Manager, the Deputy Manager will help ensure the home delivers outstanding care, safeguarding, and support for every child.
The successful candidate will lead shifts, support staff development, and maintain high standards of care and compliance throughout the home.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day running of the children’s home
- Lead shifts and oversee operations in the Registered Manager’s absence
- Supervise, support, and develop residential childcare staff
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and Ofsted regulations are consistently met
- Support care planning, risk assessments, and placement reviews
- Build positive relationships with social workers, families, and external professionals
- Assist with staff rotas, recruitment, and performance management
- Lead team meetings and contribute to service improvements
- Support children with education, appointments, activities, and daily routines
- Promote positive outcomes, independence, and emotional wellbeing
- Complete reports, incident logs, and documentation to a high standard
RequirementsEssential:
- Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Residential Childcare
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in children’s residential care
- At least 1 year in a Senior Residential Support Worker or Deputy role
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and Ofsted standards
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Flexible approach to shifts, sleep-ins, and on-call duties
- Full UK driving licence
- Right to work in the UK
