Through events, campaigns, networking, and storytelling, we aim to inspire the next generation, amplify voices, and create opportunities for people to thrive in STEM careers.
We are looking for a creative and passionate Social Media Manager to help us grow our online presence, showcase our community, and share the stories that make NorthWest Women in STEM such an impactful network.
Role Overview
The Social Media Manager will be responsible for developing and managing our social media presence across platforms, creating engaging content, increasing community engagement, and helping to promote our events, initiatives, and partnerships.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys storytelling, understands digital communities, and is passionate about improving visibility and representation within STEM.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Strategy & Management
- Develop and implement a social media strategy aligned with NorthWest Women in STEM’s mission and objectives
- Manage social media channels including LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and Website.
- Create and maintain a content calendar to support campaigns, events, and key awareness dates (e.g International Women's Day)
- Monitor engagement, respond to comments/messages, and help build an active online community
Content Creation
- Create engaging content including posts, graphics, short videos, event promotions, interviews, and community spotlights
- Share stories highlighting women in STEM, speakers, volunteers, partners, and members
- Capture and promote content from events and activities
- Work with the wider team to identify opportunities for campaigns and collaborations
Brand Awareness & Growth
- Increase awareness of NorthWest Women in STEM and grow our online community
- Identify opportunities to improve reach, engagement, and audience growth
- Support partnership promotion and amplify STEM-related initiatives across the region
- Stay up to date with social media trends, tools, and best practices
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Experience managing social media accounts for an organisation, community, business, or personal brand
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to create engaging and inclusive content
- Understanding of different social media platforms and audiences
- Creative approach to storytelling and digital content creation
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
Desirable:
- Experience using tools such as Canva, Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn tools, Wix and HubSpot.
- Basic photography/video editing skills
- Experience supporting events or community organisations
- An interest in STEM, diversity, inclusion, or women’s empowerment
